Activities that AI as a starting point for learning
Even though the technology is still new, many educators are eager for ideas on how to integrate AI into their lessons. Here are a couple of ideas, plus a fun activity to get you and your students started using AI.
One way to bring AI into your science or history lessons is to have students fact check explanations about a particular topic — like the Harlem Renaissance or photosynthesis — from AI programs as a way to reinforce mastery and develop research skills. For English class, you could have your students compare written responses for an essay topic with those of a textbot, and discuss how the writing could be improved. This will help students understand the elements of a strong essay and refine their own writing skills, while shedding some light on the drawbacks of AI-written content
Additionally, AI-generated images can be a great jumping-off point for a writing prompt — or a fun art class activity. You can have students analyze the output, based on what they’ve already learned, or have them do additional research to identify elements of the image that have no basis in reality.
